Seminar on War, Peace, and the Humanities
There are a ton of free, online course offerings available but they lack the credibility of a University credit. On the other hand, many students are hesitant to commit to a particular college or even an advanced degree without a solid sense if that path is their best fit.
Now, Antioch University Midwest (AUM) offers new students an answer to this dilemma: a free, one-credit course that provides a US Department of Education approved course transcript as well as hands-on experience on our beautiful Yellow Springs campus.
Utilizing texts, dialogues and reflections, this course uses the Humanities as a lens to explore the experience of individuals and societies before, during, and after a period of war. This seminar is neither a history nor a policy study of current wars but considers a variety of cases across time and space to examine the causes, possibilities, and consequences of war and peace.
Join us once a week on Wednesday evenings 5:15-7:15 pm for five weeks, starting July 12th.
This Seminar on War, Peace, and the Humanities is available to anyone not currently a student at AUM and who may be interested in trying a course to see if Antioch is a good fit. Please share with friends and family.
Please contact Sonya Fultz, Chair of Undergraduate Studies, at sfultz@antioch.edu with any questions.
Funding for the seminar is provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Clemente Course for the Humanities.
