Antioch University and Working America will host a discussion of the new voting laws that shorten early voting hours, shorten early voting days–specifically by removing the “Golden Week” where voters can both register and vote–and prohibit individual counties from sending absentee ballot applications.
Rep. Rick Perales, Working America State Director Dan O’Malley and Ohio voters will gather to talk about voting rights, and the discussion will serve as a way to educate the community about how their rights will be impacted by these laws.
“We believe these voting laws are really voting restrictions,” said O’Malley. “Our members want more access to the ability to vote not less. It is important that everyone’s voice is heard.”
Working America has worked to educate the community on voting laws, collected petitions that outline a Voter Bill of Rights, and written letters to the editor opposing voting restrictions.
Working America, a community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, has more than 1 million members across Ohio.
